It's the Tiny Things - Forest Bathing
Take the time to find yourself in nature ✨🌙
I know getting outside is the best thing I can do for myself. I have never once come back from a walk and thought, “Well, that was a waste of time.” And yet – when work gets busy, I start skipping my time outdoors.
I really need to stop doing that.
On Wednesday, I took the morning off and wandered the local botanical gardens. My favorite weekly ritual.
Have you ever heard of forest bathing? When I first discovered it, I was instantly smitten. It’s the Japanese practice of immersing yourself in the sights and sounds of nature. I picture myself stepping into the dense woods, face turned toward the sun, arms open, letting the soul of the forest seep right into me. Yes, please.
The Japanese believe it eases anxiety, boosts the immune system, and releases all those feel-good chemicals. Of course it does. There’s something undeniably magical about standing beneath a canopy of trees and just… being.
As I walked deeper into the woods, I stumbled upon a scene that felt straight out of a storybook. A ginkgo tree was raining its golden leaves, carpeting the forest floor. Sunlight poured through the branches, illuminating everything like my own personal yellow brick road.
I listened to the tiny creek running nearby, while the leaves fell around me like confetti. It felt like a dream. I found myself thinking: I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. Every road I’ve taken, and every detour, led me here. Then, I sat and watched a squirrel eat a nut.
Until Next Time 🌙 ✨

P.S. Please put your tiny thing from the past week in the comments. I love reading them. 💛

My little grandson’s arms around me ✨
So beautiful and magical and so different from what things look like around here lately! I love ginkgo trees and at our old house when the city was replanting trees I requested one. It was tiny, though, and its fallen leaves were never as spectacular as that.
This week I saw my first owl here. I've only ever seen owls a couple of times in the wild and although I often hear them here, this was the first one I've actually seen. Definitely magical!
