It's the Tiny Things - The Dandelion
Do you still make room to dream?
If you’re new here, welcome! I’m always looking for magic hidden in everyday life. I call them Tiny Things. ✨🌙
I woke before the sun. It is a magical time to be awake while everyone else sleeps. That is, except for Midge, my pug companion. She will follow me at any hour.
I lit a candle to see by, then selected a stick of incense. A perfect halo of light formed a sphere around the flame at the end of the stick. It reminded me of a dandelion – how its seeds form a perfect circle in the daylight.
I love the way light filters through the seeds of a dandelion. I hold one up to the sun and gently spin it. I want to make a wish, but another part of me wants to carry it home and preserve its perfection. I learned that the stems will wither, but the dreamy seed head will dry beautifully if left undisturbed.
Still, I am always pulled toward making a wish and sending those seeds into the air.
But I know it will take more than one try.
Like birthday candles, we have this strange little myth that we get one chance to make a wish – that we have one shot to make it count.
Maybe we don’t want that kind of power in our hands. We don’t want to believe we have only one try, or that somehow we ruined it. Maybe we’d rather leave it to fate.
Besides, the seeds never come off in one try. They are stubborn. They take effort. And somehow, that is part of the fun. I’m here for it.
Sometimes I find it even more satisfying to see if I can transport the dandelion home without disturbing it. To set it beside my art desk and watch it slowly dry in the sun. To have it there as a tiny reminder, each day, that anything is possible.
The dandelion isn’t there to determine our fate. It is there to remind us to dream.
It is an ephemeral little ball of light, reminding us of the child who still lives inside us. She never went away. We just quieted her.
But she really wants to pick the dandelion.
And when we let her, perhaps that is what turns the wind in our favor.
Until Next Time 🌙 ✨

P.S. Have you noticed any Tiny Things this week? Please share in the comments!

A dandelion starts as Sun, turns into a Moon, then disperses as tiny Stars. Tripped over that on Pinterest and I loved the observation!
In the early morning garden I find bumblebees sleeping in flowers. Somehow this is very endearing to me...
I took my son’s dogs out to the desert this morning. it had rained overnight so the smell of sage was so good. Love the tiny moment.💜💚
