I love this, it made me think of one of my daughters’ favorite children’s book, Make Way for Ducklings.
My tiny thing this week is seeing and hearing a bald Eagle fly over my house while sitting on my back deck. She made her call and when I looked up, she was flying over, with a red tail hawk strafing her. Clearly the hawk also has instincts about protecting her little ones too.
I suppose every creature is looking over their shoulder, protecting their babies this time of year. I hope to only see the babies emerge with their mamas. : )
What a lovely moment of showing up for a mother, even with the circle-of-life complexities. I love hearing how this group has nurtured a public space in this way.
It is so nice to see people show up with their own gardening tools and work in a public space to make it so beautiful for everyone. And that poor mama bird. Everyone was rooting for her.
I'm new here and this is—wow. I've felt this magic many times and each instance becomes a precious gemstone in an ongoing string of wonder and marvel. Thank you for articulating this so well. 💓
Hi Khara! I find writing about them always gives me a place to experience them again when life gets a little chaotic. It's always fun to hear other people share theirs too.

All those old children's books are so nostalgic.
