A magical birthday experience! What a thoughtful experience gift from your husband. The moth is amazing -- sometimes I take video of butterflies, then later export a frame to get a photo because they move so fast! ✨️
Oh! That looks so magical! What a perfect gift from your husband. (You two are so cute! And I love the stars on your face). Happy belated birthday. March birthdays are the best. Mine is in less than a week!
We're in the middle of a blizzard right now, but last Monday I spotted the first butterflies of the season here. An eastern comma and a mourning cloak. Spring can be brutal in Wisconsin!
Thanks Anne! I heard about your blizzard. The weather is so all over the place. We are in a heatwave right now. I'm resisting the air conditioner - willing winter to come back. It's funny how butterflies are in the mix before a blizzard! I hope spring comes sooner than later by you!
Weather is certainly all over the place. Can't imagine needing an air conditioner in March. I hope things settle down a bit.
I was always a little baffled (and worried about) the super early butterflies when there weren't flowers out. And then I learned that some of those species don't feed on flowers. Both of the butterflies I saw -- the Eastern Comma and Mourning Cloak -- feed on tree sap and take up nutrients from damp soil. Rotting organic matter is another food source for butterflies I never knew about.

I do that too. Sometimes you get magical shots.
Happy belated birthday!
Thank you!

It was!

We have a wedding in Palm Spings and it is projected to be 110! 😐 Lots of air conditioning.
I had no idea they survived on that. It is so fascinating when you investigate all the little things about nature.
Happy birthday season❣️What a magical gift from your husband and the universe💖✨
Thank you!
What an amazing gift! And you even got to see the moth. A tiny thing and a huge moment. Happy belated birthday!

It was. Thank you!
I’m wondering if you have a loved one who has crossed over sending you the moth. It’s really such a precise gift. Happy birthday, kindred.
It did feel really special considering I’ve never come across one. I love that it could be why. 💛 They are my favorite moth. And thank you!
