Tiny thing that brought me joy- watching the bluebird family that nested in my box over the summer, come feast on mealworms

Kim Koehler's avatar

Those are the BEST kind. When you stumble on creatures with babies. 🥰 I need to get a bird box next spring.

My tiny thing was the loud sigh from my new rescue dog as she settled onto the couch next to me on the first night in her forever home.

Kim Koehler's avatar

I felt this one. There is nothing like rescuing a fur baby and giving them a cozy place next to you. 🥰 My rescue would not even let me pick her up at first, now she tries to lay on my chest all day long. 😊

My tiny thing was exchanging seeds with a friend this week. Marigold seeds for calendula : )

Kim Koehler's avatar

A seed exchange! I would love that. I want to create seed packet art. I just love seeing them in the garden stores. They delight me.

Melissa Sarno's avatar

Ooh yes! You should, Kim! I love your art. And the beautiful packets delight me too.

Kim Koehler's avatar

Awe, thanks! It would be a fun project for spring.

My tiny thing was touching a pinky nail sized Texas Bird Pepper to my tongue and feeling the intense heat. 🌶️

Kim Koehler's avatar

Never tried that. But I love spice! 🔥

I just like to look at beautiful things too! Thank you for the awesome post! My tiny thing was admiring the beautiful rainbow iridescence in the soap bubbles while washing dishes with warm sunshine streaming in upon me! 🌈🌞

Rainbows feel like signs. When I see one I feel like it was meant for me. ☺️ And making a mundane task magical - you get extra points for that! 🤗

Amen, Sister! 🌈

I opened my front door for a moment - and just then, two little birdies flew into my front deck and were happily chirping. So I stayed very still and just enjoyed their fleeting, but joyful presence. It was a wonderful moment. We have had a lot of storms, but it was clear and a bit of sun at that time. With lots of hard stuff going on lately - I have to look for those tiny moments to keep me mentally happy and positive emotionally charged.😊Very grateful to have these tiny experiences occur. ❤️🙏❤️

I feel like birds score most in the tiny things list. They are just always bringing the joy. I had another funeral of crows right outside my door last week. I felt transported into a folktale. 🥰

Calico Chris's avatar

They do! haha. but I could mention the incredible sunrise I saw yesterday on my way to the hospital, or the white cap waves I saw on Wednesday. But the impromptu visit of the littlest creatures was super special. Also! I had a ladybug appear on my bedroom window! That was so random. Thanks for reminding me of these precious moments! And what a perfect season to have had those crows visit 😊🐦‍⬛🤗

I love that you have so many! That is living a good life. I know when I don’t have any, I’m moving way too fast.

Calico Chris's avatar

I honestly didn’t remember them all until you prompted my memory! I have to intentionally stop and notice! You are so right! When we don’t see - we are moving too fast. usually that is my hyper brain! And also when overwhelmed with stress - it’s hard to see. But stopping to observe, feel, connect - helps lessen the stress and slows us down. ❤️🤗❤️ Good for our over all well being and it ripples into the world. 🪸

Tiny thing that brought me joy this week is all the trees along the street in front of my house have turned red. It's a beautiful site to behold when I walk outside in the morning.

Kim Koehler's avatar

I love the fall leaves. We don’t get the spectacle of them in Los Angeles, but I grew up in Colorado and we would go on drives just to take them in. 🥰

My tiny thing is harvesting pomegranates from our tree! P.S. Reading through everyone else’s tiny things made me so happy just now. Best comments section! 😊

Kim Koehler's avatar

I so agree! I gotta do this more often! For the first time, I have noticed so many beautiful pomegranate trees in my neighborhood. They are just stunning. You are so lucky you have one! Pomegranates are so magical. ✨

My tiny thing was a giant golden moon! (Perhaps not tiny at all, but positively delightful!!) Thank you for your lunar reminders!

Kim Koehler's avatar

Taking time to go stand under the moon - one of my favorites! This last full moon was amazing. Glad you caught it. ✨

Bridget's avatar

It really was! Caught, chased, glossy-eyed wondered at, and photographed! 🤭 What a dazzler!

Kim Koehler's avatar

I was moon chasing as well. 😊 But once it appeared from behind the mountain - it was hard to look away.

Simply stunning!

I love the Trader Joe's story.

One weird and wonderful tiny thing that delighted me was discovering a tiny snake by the back door. It was INside the house. I was surprised I didn't see any snakes on our property since we moved and was even more surprised that the first one I saw was in the house.

Thanks for always sharing so many delights. ✨

Kim Koehler's avatar

This reminded me of summers we lived in Nebraska as a kid. We would always find baby snakes and wrap them around our wrists like bracelets.

I would love to have a visit today! Though not sure I would want it in my home, or wrap it around my wrist. 😊

My tiny thing: pulling out the big coat for the first time this year and going on a cold morning walk. Rosy cheeks and frosty breath.

Kim Koehler's avatar

I have a bit of envy! I miss those cold mornings and thick coats in fall. It was about 82 here yesterday. 😐 In California, we have to wait until January usually to feel cold.

Sara Perry's avatar

It's in the 20s here in MN, but the fall has been languishing longer than the last few years. So I'm coming to terms with the turn toward cold, letting each layer be a reminder that it's cozy season.

Kim Koehler's avatar

Wow. That is really cold for November. That is definitely nesting weather. You must own a lot of cozy sweaters. 🥰

Sara Perry's avatar

So many! And an electric blanket. When the temperatures dip into the negatives for weeks on end (come January), I also pull out the heated mattress pad -- a godsend in these parts.

Kim Koehler's avatar

That is cold. 🥶

Sara Perry's avatar

It is, but that just means more cozy vibes, right?

Such a sweet story. My tiny thing is simply spending time with family ♥️ I like to cherish every moment I have with my parents because one day they won't be around anymore and I will miss them terribly.

Kim Koehler's avatar

I feel this. We get so busy sometimes and forget that we take time for granted. I always remind myself to put work aside when my daughter has the day off, or just wants to hang out because soon she will be 18 and may move out for school. 🥲

Time passes by so fast!!

Public libraries. Always.

Kim Koehler's avatar

🙌 Absolutely! It is a really overlooked resource. They delight me as well.

Tiny thing— mornings with my tiny sweet baby 💕

Kim Koehler's avatar

This. Those memories will hold a piece of your heart forever. I miss when my daughter was a baby. My cousin just brought his first baby home and I can’t wait to visit! 💛
