I am a keen amateur gardener and I also volunteer with the Canal & River Trust as a gardener on the canals in Birmingham UK. We have developed gardens that attract all wildlife especially the Bees. We have fruit trees, bushes and various themed gardens like the herb garden, the rose garden, the country cottage garden. It is such a joy to watch every year the gardens bursting into bloom from our hard labours and working together with Mother Earth to create a little bit of magic along the canal waterways
That is fantastic! It seems in this world we tend to feel powerless to help in many arenas. But things like this, we can actually see nature begin to thrive. I love visiting places that focus on new native plants and protecting the environment. Just seeing all the birds and pollinators all around - the difference it makes.
This was an inspirational read! I feel a moon walk or few in my future. Over the last couple of years, I have been changing out non-native shrubs and flowers in my yard for native species. I have just discovered two native plant nurseries and can not wait to bring more home.
