One of my favourite authors is Marie Benedict, hands down. Just finished Whistler by Ann Patchett and Land by Maggie O'Farrell, both of which were interesting and different than my usual choices. The Light Eaters by Zoe Schlanger was utterly fascinating and somewhat surreal. I like it when you share books you've read.
I'm currently reading The Forest Unseen by David G. Haskell and The Wild Trees by Richard Preston. I just ordered The Comfort of Crows last week and should be arriving soon! Really looking forward to reading it and going along with the companion journal (Leaf, Cloud, Crow) as I take field notes of the new land we moved to.
I have not read either of those titles. I will add them to my list! I've really started to look up all the trees in my neighborhood and their origins. Most of them are from different parts of the world. It is fascinating to learn their history. So I think I would really enjoy the tree book. Thanks for the recommendations!
I agree, Rooted by Lyanda Hault is excellent. You might also enjoy World of Wonders by Aimee Nezhukumatathil. Also, Serviceberry by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer.
Night Magic by Leigh Ann Henion is one of my all time favorite books about the natural world. She got me interested in moths and I still think about the chapters about her encounters with owls, fireflies and the moths.
Right now I am reading Daughter of Egypt by Marie Benedict. I am loving books lately that focus on the experience of women throughout history. I recently read The Calamity Club and it’s easily my favorite book this year.
True story, I saw you post about Calamity Club. Then I saw it someplace else, so I took that as a sign and downloaded it for my long walks. I am enjoying it!
I love such stories as well! I loved Four Winds by Kristin Hannah and The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. I loved Four Winds being transported to another time. 🙂

The Comfort of Crows was good, I am reading The Ride of Her Life (Letts)
I will have to check this one out, I love memoirs.
American Tiger by Adam Skolnick is a wonderful father/daughter/nature story! I have to read Comfort of Crows - so many recommendations for this book!
