Wow! This post is so full of beautiful thoughts and ideas. Here's to a beautiful and creative year!
(oh, and I love your observation about your bird feeder. We had a couple of warm days and I was surprised and delighted to see that an opossum had woken up and was munching the fallen seeds under our bird feeders!)
I find opossums so endearing. My mom has a family of raccoons she feeds on her patio (I tell her you are not supposed to do this, but it delights her too much to stop). When I was visiting, an opossum joined them on the patio. It was the sweetest thing. They were all gathered around bowls sharing a meal.
Beautiful Kim, I am very much looking forward to this series. Such a good reminder to reset our sacred spaces. My tiny little home desk gets so cluttered so quickly. I have a plant table next to it that I could incorporate into it, as long as anything on it is 3 year old proof 😝
Awe, that is such a good age! I think 3 was one of my favorites. I always tell myself I'm gonna keep things really organized. It all gets undone in time. Maybe someday...
Haha that’s so real. Alma will be 3 on Tuesday and the complex emotions are so real. I can already tell that this is going to be a really fun and really challenging age.
It’s funny, my sister-in-law sent it to me months ago, and I couldn’t find what she sent to rewatch it. I thought it was supposed to end on the solstice and so when I ended up awake early that AM and remembered, I did a half-remembered, abbreviated version of it that was actually very beautiful for its imperfect spontaneity and made a post about it.
Never too late! Or any "right" way to do it in my opinion. So many friends I know could not do one a day, they just started burning through them to get to the final one. This made me laugh. Whatever delights you!
I love the idea of creating a sacred space. It’s been on my mind to create a little altar of sorts to honor my mother and now I think that will all be an included in a little space honoring myself, thank you for the prompt!
You made me recall that when my great aunt died, my great uncle made an altar to her in his home. It was this tiny corner of things. And he would light a candle nightly next to it. It was the sweetest thing. It would be a comforting thing to make it for both you and your mom. 💛
I just subscribed because this is exactly the magic I’m looking for this year. I have a couple of sacred spaces in my house. One is my little desk area, which, like yours, has plants, candles, a dish of crystals, two shelves of bits and bobs that I live, and colorful postcards and artwork that please me. The second is a little reading nook by a window and my bookshelf. 💗
Welcome! It feels so cozy to create these spaces. It is like a treasure hunt. When you find something magical to add, it is just delightful. I took down my big shelves and put half ones, so it opened up all this wall space. Now I can put more inspiration up!
I made a sacred space in October. I already had plans to change it up this year. And, so glad to be able to do it at the same time as you. We are similar in many ways. But, you have your style. And, I am still working on mine. Cheers to a happy new year. Looking forward to following along.
Each season I love to add and rearrange my space. It makes it feel new again. I've been working on that this new year. It takes time to really find your style. I think I played in my sketchbook for a good year before I saw it emerge. And it is still evolving. I'm excited to play more this month and see what work I create. As well as everyone else! I get inspired by watching.
It is like “A Gentleman in Moscow” (Towles), the rich life he had.
I've never read that one. But reading the synopsis of the book, I'm intrigued. I will have to put it on my list.
Give it 50 pages to pull you in
This is my sister’s favorite book and has been encouraging me to read. I will.
Now I really have to check it out. So many recommendations. ☺️
Such a beautiful book!

That sounds so cute.

I’ve never heard of the 13 days of magic, but that sounds like a beautiful ritual to celebrate! I’ll have to do that next year.
I had never heard of it either. I will have to create a post for it next year for people to try it. It was a fun practice.

Lovely!!! I hope you post photos!
I will! I’m still putting up some little display shelves and plants. 🥰 Coming soon….
